The Kunmíng wolf dog is a Chinese dog also known as the Kunming dog.

They are mainly used as police and military dogs, assist in mine detection and many are used as rescue and fire dogs. They are now very common as family dogs in China.

physicalThe Kunmíng dog is a medium-sized dog, its average height is 64-68 cm and its weight can reach up to 38 kgs.

It is the wolf dog that most physically resembles the German Shepherd, although they are taller in the back.

They have a double-coated coat during the fall and winter and moult to a shorter coat in the warm season and spring.

PersonalityThe personality of Kunmíng dogs is extremely similar to the German Shepherd, they are extremely intelligent, confident and curious, always ready to learn, which makes them strong candidates to be police and military dogs.

They require a lot of physical activity, walks and sports to keep them busy, are good with children and very loyal to their owners.

The Kunmíng dog is a cousin of the German Shepherd.

The history of the breed is not known for certain, it is known that it was created in the 1950s, to be used as military dogs in the Chinese province of Yunnan.

Today, a kunming dog named Kunxun became the first cloned police dog in Chinese history.
