There has always been a special connection between animals and humans, despite being different, we always find a particular way to connect and accompany each other. This is the case of Simon, a white wolf dog who was abandoned by his owner, a little boy who, because of his family conditions could not keep him with him.
Simon became very popular, thanks to his touching story, and to the unconditional love of this little boy towards him. Despite having taken him to a shelter, he always writes to him and keeps an eye on his beloved doggy. Waiting for the day when they can be together again.
A story of the purest and truest love
Simon's story went viral, when the owners of the Pergatuzoo shelter, decided to publish this experience. It turns out that in 2020, a 9-year-old boy approached the institution, with the intention of leaving his dog. Although it was a very hard decision for the boy, his reasons were very noble.
It turns out that in their home, they did not have the capacity to keep the little animal, since they are very low-income. In addition, because of the same situation, and because of the demand that the little animal implied, his father was constantly mistreating him. So, this kind child decided to take Simon to the shelter, so that he could be safe.
She left him with an emotional letter, and 3 pesos for his tortillas. With a very specific condition, that he not be given up for adoption. But also, this little boy made a promise to his puppy, that someday he would come back for him.
This is part of the text of the letter:
"I leave you Simon, he's my dog, I don't want my dad to beat him. He cries a lot because there is no food, I leave you my savings for his tortillas. Don't hit him because my dad hits him a lot. Don't take him away, when he grows up I'll come for Simon".
A viral event, with many reactions
After publishing this fact, it was only a matter of time before people started to make Simon's story viral. Due to the high concentration of opinions about the case, the owners of the shelter had to make a new publication. In it, they explained that it was not a case of mistreatment, nor a request for help, or anything like that:
In an interview with a local media, the shelter's caretakers explained that the real reason for the puppy's crying was due to chronic pain in his hip, caused by a malformation he had at birth.
They were also very clear that Simon would remain in the shelter and that the child's identity would remain anonymous. Despite this, they have published updates on Simon's condition and the course of his story.
Trying to keep his promise
Although it has been a while since the first publication, after a few months and due to the large number of people asking about Simon's condition, the people at the shelter decided to update everyone with the story.
In a publication on their Facebook account, they shared a message where they showed a new letter from the boy, which he sent to his puppy, along with another 3 pesos for his tortillas. And where he made it very clear that he was not willing to abandon his pet.
The publication also explained that the animal is doing very well, growing very healthy and with the care it requires. After that, the visits by the child were frequent.
When he was unable to visit him, the boy sent letters to his beloved companion:
"Hello Simon. I can't see you at the covid. My dad won't let me go out. I send you your food and 3 pesos. My dad doesn't have a job. Be good, I miss you."
Since then, the boy has kept his word and, despite his limited situation and young age, has done his best to be always present in Simon's life, as well as to contribute to his food and care.
The desire for a happy ending
Although Simon has grown up, his owner is still very small. But this story is definitely an admirable fact, which is worth spreading. Many people keep track of how Simon is doing.
But perhaps all those who have known this story, keep hoping that these two tender friends can get together again and for good.
